Lydia is my photography buddy. She has impressed me with her creative vision since she was very young.
We headed off to the woods by the river that runs through Missoula. The same one from “A River Runs Through It”.
It’s a beautiful place that we like to go to take photos and take deep breaths.
We brought my old Pentax 645N with a roll of film. Lydia or “Lids” as I call her, wanted to experiment with the Atmosphere Aerosol I had just purchased.
But we needed an assistant, so Jude (5 years) stood off to the right and enjoyed filling the background with sun-beams.
Lydia is more than my photography protege. She’s a beautiful person. As you will see, I love photographing her. She is one of the coolest people I have ever met. She’s a mother to all the younger children in our family.
This summer she wanted to try to make some money with a flower stand. I told her I’d get supplies and she could pay me back. She was managing her siblings like a boss:) She had a runner to replenishing supplies, and hired her brother to do some heavy lifting, while she made beautiful arrangements and dealt with customers. To our amazement, she came back later that afternoon with over $300!
Lids is creative, strong-willed, confident and caring. That’s what I see in this photo.
