This year – just a few weeks ago – was 18 years.
Eighteen eventful years of marriage to Nelli.
Earlier in the summer we went to the Western Montana Fair to commemorate 20 years of teamwork. That’s how long we’ve been together. The fair was the destination of our first date when we were still in high school.
For our wedding anniversary we decided to go out to a favorite restaurant.
But first, we would load up 1 roll of Velvia Slide Film into my Pentax 645N and take a few self-portraits. We brought the tri-pod along on our adventure. We each got 8 shots on a 10 second timer that seemed awfully quick.
It was one of my favorite dates and this was my favorite shot from our 18 year anniversary. She’s a photo geek too, and loved it just as much.
Being married for 18 years requires a resolute amount of grace, loyalty, toughness, tenderness and togetherness.
Over the years we have developed a relentless kind of love. That’s what I see in this photo.
