This is the 4th frame from Nelli and I’s 18th anniversary date. We took one roll of velvia medium format on self-timer in Missoula at some of our favorite memory-filled places.
As you may know, Nelli and I operate a photography business together.
I don’t talk about it much on this blog because, well, we have a separate blog for that.
And this is my personal journal. A non-commercial outlet.
As we started planning on updating our website, we came to some conclusions.
Thinking about a total makeover to our retail photography site the first thought was the name.
Jesse and Nelli is the name of our business.
It’s also the name of us.
I remember when we made that decision.
We left Finest Moments (the photography business that Mat Crawford and I started in 2005) 2000 miles behind.
We moved home to a much smaller town with perhaps the highest photographer per capita in the nation.
We wanted a new start and a new name
We named it Jesse and Nelli because we wanted to create a personal experience – something different than Finest Moments. Something uniquely us.
But now it looks short-sighted.
We have kids.
And our kids are becoming photographers.
So we are thinking about changing our business name to 3 Birds Photography in June.
We haven’t told more than a handful of people.
Will we still be working together and doing portraits, weddings and commercial work?
Of course, we are both photographers:)
And while we put our hearts into it – our business isn’t us. And we aren’t our business.
Our family is bigger to us than our business. Literally.
And our new studio will have bigger branches:)
